Today (again) I had a lovely lunch at Mickey G's. I asked for a "vegan lunch' (i.e. chef's choice) and was surprised to get a monster calzone with artichoke hearts and sliced garlic on top. Nick, my server, said, "Don't panic when you cut into it and see a little cheese. Michael says to tell you it's Luca's cheese." After a brief discussion, I learned that it was a vegan cheese (not sure of the brand as I don't often buy fake cheeses and meats). The dough was perfect - chewy and light - and filled with grilled eggplant, grilled zucchini,  tomato slices, kalamata olives, more garlic, and just a touch of vegan cheese. It was delicious!  Of course, I shouldn't be eating bread, due to my gluten intolerance, but I find it's hard to live without it all the time.

Yesterday's vegan lunch was two grilled portobello mushrooms topped with sauteed spinach, sliced kalamata olives, diced sun-dried tomato, pine nuts and herbs. Full yum!
